Cole Palmer to win the Ballon d'Or?! Chelsea hero backed to challenge Ousmane Dembele and Lamine Yamal to top prize after inspiring Conference League final comeback win

Palmer got two assists in Chelsea's incredible second-half comeback as the Blues ran out 4-1 winners to claim a trophy in their last game of the season. Palmer created his side's equaliser when his cross found Enzo Fernandez at the back post, allowing the Argentine to head in, before another dangerous ball into the box was nudged past goalkeeper Adrian by Nicolas Jackson.

Palmer's role in his team's success had fans going wild on social media, with many backing him as a candidate to win the Ballon d'Or.

Palmer has faced criticism at times this season after going through a rough patch in Chelsea's bid to earn a place in next season's Champions League. Despite his Conference League final heroics, though, he is unlikely to be among the top candidates to claim the Ballon d'Or this time around, with Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Mohamed Salah all vying for the prize.

Palmer and his Chelsea co-stars will soon start preparing for the Club World Cup, with their first game coming against either LAFC or Club America on June 16..
