The 22-year-old had reported back to Cobham for pre-season at the start of this week, before unfortunately sustaining the injury in training. Maresca hinted at the severity of Colwill's injury this week.
He told reporters: "We had a problem the last two days with Levi Colwil. We don’t know how long he’s going to be out. It was the first session on Monday and just in the last minutes of the session he felt something and we need to wait. We know each other from last year and we know how important he has been. I spoke with Levi yesterday and I told him if we achieve what we achieved last year, it’s also because of him."
He now faces a long spell on the sidelines and is expected to miss a significant chunk of the 2024-25 season.
