Chelsea goalkeeper bizarrely compared to Manuel Neuer by German press as Bayer Leverkusen eye deal for Blues stopper

Chelsea signed Petrovic in the summer of 2023 from MLS side New England Revolution and loaned the Serbian goalkeeper out last summer to Strasbourg, where he has impressed pundits and fans. His future at Stamford Bridge remains undetermined, with Enzo Maresca opting to trust Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

Kicker reports that Chelsea goalkeeper Petrovic is a candidate for Leverkusen, with Matej Kovar will more than likely leave the club, while Lukas Hradecky will be demoted. Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia has been linked with a move to Die Werkself in recent weeks and is still a summer target alongside Stefan Ortega and Noah Atubolu. However, Leverkusen are trying to find keepers for less than €30 million (£26m/$34m), and Petrovic could be the perfect option.

The report likened the Serbian goalkeeper to Bayern Munich and Germany legend Neuer. The report claimed that the Chelsea loanee is 'not only a giant physically and on the line, but also with the ball. He interprets the goalkeeper position in a similarly offensive manner to Munich's Manuel Neuer.'

While the Chelsea goalkeeper is likely to demand an exit after his impressive season, the Blues are unlikely to be ready to sell cheaply. As such, this could very well hinder Leverkusen's plans to sign Petrovic.
