Chelsea are reportedly chasing Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen as they continue to explore options for a new first-choice goalkeeper. The London club had previously tried and failed to secure a deal for AC Milan's Mike Maignan, and are now shifting focus to the German international. Ter Stegen is believed to be evaluating his future at Barcelona, especially in light of the club’s recent signing of Joan Garcia.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Manchester United have also reportedly made initial checks on the veteran keeper, as Ruben Amorim's side remains uncertain about the long-term suitability of Andre Onana. While Chelsea may have been the first to formally express interest, they could face serious competition if United decide to act on their inquiries. Both English clubs see Ter Stegen’s wealth of experience, calmness under pressure, and sharp distribution skills as vital qualities for their respective rebuilds and ambitions.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Barcelona are understood to be willing to consider a transfer, provided that a compelling bid is submitted. Offloading Ter Stegen would allow the Catalan club to reduce their wage bill significantly and help ease ongoing financial concerns.

    WHAT NEXT FOR TER STEGEN?

With both Chelsea and United monitoring the situation closely, it now appears to be a matter of which club makes the first concrete move. If either side places a formal offer on the table, Barcelona are likely to enter negotiations, potentially bringing Ter Stegen’s decade-long tenure at the Camp Nou to a close. As things stand, the German’s future is up in the air, but with interest heating up in England, a high-profile Premier League switch could be on the horizon.
