Borussia Dortmund wages: Who is the best paid player at BVB and everything you need to know about Dortmund's salary bill

When discussing dark horses in European football, Borussia Dortmund undoubtedly rank among the most prominent. The club has come heartbreakingly close to securing major silverware in recent seasons, narrowly missing out on several occasions.

In 2024, they were defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final, and just a year earlier, in the 2022-23 campaign, they lost the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich on the final day of the season. Despite these near-misses, Dortmund's resilience and potential make them a constant threat in European competitions.

Dortmund boast a remarkable ability to attract top young talent and nurture them into world-class stars, look no further than Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland.

Despite being known as a "selling" club, Dortmund consistently produce and retain an impressive roster of talented players. At the same time, their annual payroll remains modest compared to the financial powerhouses of European football, allowing them to maintain a competitive edge while managing their resources effectively.

So, who is the highest earner at the Signal Iduna Park this season? And who is on the opposite end of the spectrum?

GOAL delved into the numbers from Capology and found out!

    Goalkeepers

Swiss international Gregor Kobel is undoubtedly the highest-paid goalkeeper at Borussia Dortmund and ranks among the club's top earners. His elevated salary reflects his importance to the team, and it's likely something he takes great pride in, given his key role in the squad.

Alexander Meyer is the second-highest paid goalkeeper, earning just over a million euros. And then 23-year-old Marcel Lotka is the lowest-paid goalkeeper, which is quite understandably a fair reflection of the player's current standing at the club.

    NameSalary
    Gregor Kobel€9,000,000
    Alexander Meyer€1,140,000
    Marcel Lotka€240,000

    Defenders

The highest-paid defender at Borussia Dortmund is Niklas Sule, who earns an impressive €10 million annually. Behind him is right-back Julian Ryerson, who earns exactly half the wages as Sule.

Fans would've certainly expected to see Nico Schlotterbeck higher on this list, earning more than his "modest" €4.72 million annual salary.

Ramy Bensebaini, who has been in good form for BVB, is the fourth-highest paid defender, just ahead of Waldemar Anton.

Yan Couto and Almugera Kabar are the lowest-paid defenders.

    Marcel Sabitzer€7,500,000

    Attackers

Serhou Guirassy is the highest-paid forward in the squad, with a €9.4 million package annually. Julian Brandt is the second-highest earning forward, but the BVB faithful would have wanted to see him earn a bit more than just €7 million per year.

Karim Adeyemi, Maximilian Beier, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are next on the list in terms of wages, ahead of USMNT star Giovanni Reyna, who earns a modest €2.5 million every season.

Julien Duranville and Cole Campbell are the lowest-paid forwards in the squads, having six-figure annual salaries.
