Borussia Dortmund plot surprise move for Wolves star Fabio Silva to provide support for Serhou Guirassy

Borussia Dortmund are interested in Portuguese striker Fábio Silva, who is currently on loan at Spanish side Las Palmas from English club Wolves. According to German outlet Bild, Die Borussen are seeking a backup to their talisman Serhou Guirassy and have identified the Portuguese forward as the ideal option.

Signed from Porto for €40 million, Fabio Silva didn’t have the start he expected at Molineux. He was loaned out to Spanish club Las Palmas on a season-long deal, where he scored 10 goals and provided three assists. These performances have not gone unnoticed, and German giants Borussia Dortmund are now interested in pursuing him as a backup for Guirassy, who scored 34 goals in all competitions this season.

Silva’s transfer fee of €40m was a club-record outlay when he was signed by Wolves in the 2020/21 season. Only Cunha (€50m) and Matheus Nunes (€47.4m) have commanded higher transfer fees since Silva's arrival.

Silva will rejoin his parent club, Wolves, when his loan with Las Palmas expires at the end of June. With Cunha expected to leave for Manchester United, it remains to be seen whether Wolves will keep Silva or sell him if a satisfactory offer arrives. Dortmund are looking to strengthen key areas, particularly in attack and defence, as they aim to improve on their fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga.
