  • WHAT HAPPENED?

BVB fans enjoyed themselves on Tuesday night as they thrashed Scottish champions Celtic 7-1 in Europe's elite competition. But - as they usually do - the iconic 'Yellow Wall' vented their frustration at the competition's governing body, displaying several banners including one that read 'UEFA Mafia'.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

As well as the clear message to UEFA, fans held up another sign reading "You don't care about the sport - all you care about is money", and a third that read "Reclaim the Game". It is a damning message criticising the new Champions League format, which many believe to be less entertaining and more money-driven.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

UEFA have previously sanctioned clubs for using the word "mafia" as they deem it provocative and offensive. Two years ago, Marseille were fined for displaying a similar banner and a similar punishment could be on the way for Borussia Dortmund.

    WHAT NEXT FOR DORTMUND?

BVB have always been known to be a club that is not afraid to share their values and protest against UEFA if necessary. However, they could end up with a restricted crowd if they continue to actively protest against the governing body.
