Benni McCarthy showing off his skills in front of Manchester United's misfiring striker

Even after a decade into retirement McCarthy still shows that he has the golden touch that spurred him on to become the all-time leading goalscorer for Bafana Bafana with 32 goals.

McCarthy also enjoyed successful stints at clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam and Portuguese outfit FC Porto where he won the Uefa Champions League.

McCarthy showed his quality on the training pitch where he was part of a foot tennis drill with his players, scoring some points and his efforts promoted some Manchester fans to suggest that he should strip up and play as a striker for United, given how the likes of Marcus Rashford have been firing blanks in front of goal.

McCarthy, meanwhile, might be affected by the imminent takeover of Sir sir Jim Ratcliffe, and should he be sacked alongside head coach Erik Ten Hag, the former Orlando Pirates goal-getter will not be short of any suitors as he is heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

However, he is still well received by United fans as some of them wish to see him kit up and get into the area as United are a depleted side that just got knocked out of the Champions League.
