  • Tozer left Wrexham in the summer
  • Believes promotion is the target
  • Parkinson's side win first match
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Tozer expects his old team to target back-to-back-to-back promotions after kickstarting their League One campaign with a win against Wycombe Wanderers. The Red Dragons have enjoyed an extraordinary rise in the Ryan Reynolds-Rob McElhenney era, and Tozer doesn't think the club will want to waste any time in reaching the Championship.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Tozer made 30 appearances last season for Wrexham but wasn't offered a contract extension in the summer. Phil Parkinson brought in Lewis Brunt and Dan Scarr to bolster the defensive ranks, and Tozer has praised his former boss for recruiting well in the transfer window.

  • WHAT TOZER SAID

"[Competing for promotion] will be the inside aim, 100%," Tozer told Sky Sports. "I don't see why play-offs wouldn't be a realistic challenge for them. Maybe top two. They've had a good start and they've recruited really well this summer, so full credit to the gaffer again. I'm sure they'll want to push on."

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

The Racecourse Ground celebrated Wrexham's return to the third-tier after 19 years away with a 3-2 win against Wycombe. Sunday's clash against Bolton might give us a better idea of their promotion credentials.
