The rumored fee for Almiron's signature is $10.39M (£8.5M), and the club has two open Designated Player spots it is looking to fill this offseason. The report added that the club is looking to fill one slot with a striker, and the other with a winger, and Almiron fits the latter.
The club is reportedly targeting Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath and Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard for the striker position, while Almiron appears to be a primary target on the wing.
The Paraguayan has only logged 398 minutes across all competitions in 2024-25, and is in line for a January exit from the Premier League outfit.
Almiron starred with Atlanta in 2017 and 2018, helping them win MLS Cup in his second season. He was a league MVP finalist in 2018 and was named MLS Best XI in both campaigns. He was sold from Atlanta to Newcastle in 2019 for a then-league-record fee of $25.6M (£21M).
