  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Atalanta want to sign Muniz from Fulham after facing resistance from Crystal Palace for their forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Muniz is reportedly also interested in moving to Italy and had asked the London club not to feature him in their recent friendly win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fulham are willing to offload the Brazilian forward and have reportedly set an asking price of €45 million (£39m/$52m). The feeling inside the Atalanta camp is that a deal can be agreed upon for €40m (£35m/$47m) in fixed fees and €5m in bonuses. The striker has not resorted to any controversial tactics to force a move, having joined his team-mates in training.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Atalanta made a move for Muniz after Crystal Palace remained firm in their stance that they would only offload the player if a considerable offer was received. The 2025 Community Shield winners are reportedly looking for €50m (£43m/$58m) plus bonuses for Mateta. However, with the French striker's contract expiring in 2027, the club would prefer the player to spend another year at Selhurst Park.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ATALANTA?

Atalanta's sporting director, Tony D'Amico, also plans to spend another €30m (£26m/$35m) on Strasbourg left-back Diego Moreira. The Serie A side believe Moreira and Muniz's addition will provide a complete team for coach Ivan Juric and bolster their chances of competing at a higher level next season.
