Arsenal ready transfer 'proposal' for Viktor Gyokeres amid ‘blackmail’ claims with Gunners prepared to rival Man Utd & Juventus for prolific Sporting striker

Sweden international striker Gyokeres has made it clear he wants to take on a new challenge this summer after two prolific years in Portugal. He is said to have gone on strike in an effort to force through a move elsewhere.

A stunning situation in Lisbon, which has "shaken up the market", has seen Manchester United and Juventus heavily linked with Gyokeres in their respective bids to add a proven No.9 to their ranks.

A Bola reports Arsenal are also prepared to put an offer on the table, with Gyokeres' agent said to already be in London. The Gunners have been monitoring RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko, with the 22-year-old Slovenian considered to be their top target.

They could, however, take advantage of the unrest at Sporting by granting Gyokeres his transfer wish. He is said to have been left furious by a refusal to honour a gentleman’s agreement that would have allowed him to leave for considerably less than his €100 million (£85m/$115m) release clause.

Sporting president Frederico Varandas has stated that "threats, blackmail and insults" will not see him bow to pressure, with a certain figure still needing to be met in order for Gyokeres - who has three years remaining on his contract - to leave Jose Alvalade Stadium.
