How Arsenal are taking inspiration from Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu as they step up plans for Emirates Stadium expansion - revealed

However, co-chairman Josh Kroenke previously acknowledged in an interview with ESPN that internal discussions about a more significant transformation have been ongoing. These conversations remain in the early stages, with the club assessing the feasibility of further developments.

According to The Standard, the Gunners have closely observed Real Madrid’s multi-year renovation of the Bernabeu and are keeping it as a reference project. Madrid first announced the ambitious stadium overhaul in 2019, and the state-of-the-art revamp was officially completed last year, bringing the Bernabeu into the modern era with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure. The new Bernabeu boasts a retractable roof, 360-degree screens, and improved fan amenities, which has led the Arsenal leadership to see Madrid’s success as a valuable case study for their plans.

Arsenal have already undertaken various upgrades within the stadium. The club has brought in Populous, the architectural firm that originally designed the Emirates, to enhance catering options and upgrade kitchen facilities in the stadium. The club's venue director, Tom McCann, previously shared plans during a fan forum meeting regarding the introduction of better beer supply systems, which have been successfully implemented. Additionally, Arsenal are working on technological improvements, including upgraded mobile connectivity, with plans for full 5G network coverage at the Emirates currently underway and could be operational by the start of next season.
