  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Arsenal have been long-time admirers of Sesko and had tried to sign the striker in the January transfer window. The Gunners were reportedly prepared to match the German club's £70 million ($86m) valuation of the player, however, Leipzig were not willing to part ways in the middle of the season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The situation, however, has now changed as the Bundesliga side could be forced to sell their star attacker if they fail to secure Champions League football for the 2025-26 season. The club dropped to sixth in the league table following their 2-2 draw against Heidenheim last weekend. If they continue to remain out of the top four, they will have to part ways with a host of star players including Sesko, according to Sport Bild, as they look to raise funds to make up for the shortfall.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The report also adds that Liverpool target Xavi Simons is also likely to leave the club just months after joining them permanently. Star defender Castello Lukeba, on the other hand, will exit irrespective of the club's position in the league table. Lukeba is strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.
