'When are you allowed to celebrate?!' - Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard fires back at scathing Jamie Carragher criticism after picture-taking celebrations in wake of huge win over Liverpool

After the final whistle at the Emirates, TV cameras captured Odegaard snapping pictures of club photographer Stuart MacFarlane. However, Sky Sports pundit Carragher, a Liverpool legend, stated that the players ought to have gone down the tunnel right away, while co-pundit Gary Neville contended that it shows the team's "immaturity". Carragher has since claimed that his comments were a joke in reference to Neil Warnock's famous 'get down the tunnel' comments.

When asked after the game if he thought the celebrations were over-exuberant, Odegaard said [via Sky Sports News on X]: "I think everyone who loves football, who understands football, they know how much it means to win this game. And if you're not allowed to celebrate when you win a game, when are you allowed to celebrate? We are happy with the win and we'll stay humble. We keep working hard and we prepare for the next one but you have to be happy when you win."

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard all scored goals to give Mikel Arteta's team the victory and bring them up to second place over Manchester City. After the final whistle, Arteta enthusiastically ran down the touchline to celebrate. He then pumped his fists in the air to greet the ecstatic fans. After a challenging 2022-23 season, the Gunners are firmly back in the running for the championship. With the victory, Arteta's team's are now just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
