'Not going to be good' - Alejandro Garnacho warned off trying to recreate Everton wondergoal as Bruno Fernandes highlights injury risk for Man Utd's 'special talent'

The experienced midfielder heaped praise on Garnacho for his stellar showing against Everton, but also issued the teenager with a stark warning. Garnacho opened the scoring for United in their 3-0 win with a spectacular overhead kick goal, but Fernandes is concerned that his back could suffer if he attempts to repeat the trick in future matches.

Speaking to reporters, Fernandes said: "It gives a lift against Everton, we expect moments like that from Garnacho. We have players who can give moments to our side, you need that special thing to win games and Garna has done it many times. I don’t know if he has been training that, [but] it is not going to be good for his back."

The United skipper added on Garnacho's general contribution to the collective cause at Goodison Park: "He has that special talent for moments to be decisive but I am more happy his work off the ball, against Everton was amazing, if he can put that together."

Right after the game, the Portuguese international had jokingly claimed that Garnacho must have been watching too many videos of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. The 19-year-old's bicycle kick was very similar to Ronaldo's strike against Juventus while playing for Real Madrid in the Champions League in 2018, and he even copied the Al-Nassr star's famous 'Siuu' celebration.

With just three points from their first four Champions League group stage games, the Red Devils will now aim to register a win against Galatasaray in Turkey on Wednesday to stay in the hunt for a knockout spot. Garnacho will be in line to start again, though competition for places in attack will be more intense after the return of Rasmus Hojlund and Antony, both of whom have recovered from respective knocks that kept them out of the Everton game.
