Getty Images SportTHE BIGGER PICTURE
The 26-year-old's exit has been a long time coming and the change is needed if Ramsdale is to keep himself in the frame for a spot in the England squad. He sat on the bench for the Three Lions during Euro 2024 but will fancy himself to cause a headache for interim boss Lee Carsley with some regular game time for Southampton.
The deal also allows Arsenal to push forward in signing Joan Garcia as his replacement. Mikel Arteta is keen to get a €30million (£25m/$33m) over the line before the transfer deadline.
GettyWHAT NEXT FOR RAMSDALE?
The former Bournemouth stopper is leaving a side that will be challenging for the title to a team fighting for their survival. Ramsdale was loved at Bournemouth and will hope to recapture his Cherries form in a different part of the south coast.
