Bayern Munich are deep into a significant squad overhaul this summer, with sporting director Max Eberl earning praise from the club's hierarchy for his work in the transfer window so far. According to Sport Bild, figures including Uli Hoeneß, president Herbert Hainer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have all credited Eberl with a strong start to the window, a notable vote of confidence as the club works through a series of departures and potential arrivals.
The exits are mounting. Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel has left for Besiktas Istanbul after just four competitive appearances across six years at the club, bringing a long-running saga to an underwhelming close. Joao Palhinha is edging closer to a return to Portugal, with Benfica preparing a bid of around 25 million euros that would meet Bayern's asking price, though Juventus have since entered the picture to complicate matters. Midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen has reportedly joined LaLiga side Deportivo A Coruna, while young forward Neol Aseko is set to move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
With Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro also gone, Vincent Kompany is expected to hand a much larger role to Tom Bischof, the Germany Under-21 captain who kicker reports is central to the club's plans for filling those midfield gaps. On the incoming side, Bayern are linked with Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, though any move is said to depend on specific conditions. New signing Ismael Saibari meanwhile suffered a muscle injury while on World Cup duty with Morocco, a minor concern as pre-season approaches. Bayern face Wehen Wiesbaden in a friendly on July 25.
