Wilshere couldn't make it until the break and was withdrawn in first half stoppage time for forward Benik Afobe, with Bournemouth chasing a 1-0 deficit against Pep Guardiola's visitors.

Afobe's arrival is expected to see Eddie Howe's men - who trail through a Raheem Sterling strike - shift into a 4-4-2 formation in the second half.

Wilshere was the third player to be withdrawn in an injury-strewn first half, with team-mate Simon Francis lasting just 23 minutes before being replaced by Tyrone Mings.

Previously, Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus didn't even make it until the 15-minute mark having taken an unpleasant knock to the ankle, and Sergio Aguero was brought on for him.
