'No need for breaks' - Mourinho ready to get back to work after Tottenham sacking

Jose Mourinho flashed a smile and said he had no intention of fading from the spotlight after his Tottenham sacking, instead claiming there was "no need for breaks".

In an impromptu interview on Monday, Mourinho appeared to be in good spirits and insisted he would be back in the dugout soon.

The Portuguese leaves Tottenham with the club in seventh place in the Premier League, while they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on April 25.

What has been said?

When asked by Sky Sports  whether he felt he had been treated unfairly, Mourinho declined to make a direct statement, responding: "You know me. I'm not going to say anything."

On his future, he added: "No need for breaks or recharged batteries. I'm always in football."

Mourinho's Tottenham record

Mourinho recorded the second lowest win percentage (51%) of his managerial career during his time with Spurs, with his final month with the north London club  including a Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb.

His work in taking Spurs to the Carabao Cup final counts as a bright spot amid a difficult season, while his success at his previous clubs will likely allow him plenty of opportunities to manage elsewhere in the future.

What next for Spurs?

Tottenham face Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday before their Carabao Cup final date with Manchester City on Sunday.

Daniel Levy will now be looking to appoint a new manager too, with RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann seen by many as the favourite to replace Mourinho.

Spurs are currently five points behind fourth-placed West Ham in the Premier League table, although a run of three games without a win in the league has harmed their chances of a top-four finish.

Amid all the talk of a European Super League,  Tottenham are likely to also face a battle to keep star man Harry Kane at the club, with the England captain having admitted he is unsure about his future.
