Aliyu Zubairu ready to give Wikki Tourists' Feeders breakthrough

Wikki Tourists head coach, Aliyu Zubairu has disclosed that he intends keeping with the tradition of the Giant Elephants of involving the feeder team in the main team’s activities ahead of the start of the season.

The tactician resumed work fully with Wikki Tourists after he recently replaced Bala Nikyu and the coach said that he is working towards fishing out hidden talents from their feeder team to complement the effort of the experienced players who are either newly signed or are retained from last season.

The former Akwa United assistant coach noted that the need to ensure that the objective of setting up the feeder team is not defeated is among the reasons he swung into action to identify some of the players that have distinguished themselves in training from the feeder team since he took over.

“We have picked some players from the feeder team that are presently training with the main team with a view to being considered for registration,” Zubairu told Goal.

“We don’t want to overlook the giant strides of the feeder team which has served as breeding ground for the main team in the past. We are going to consider some of the players there if they are able to justify themselves during training sessions. They are going to train with the main team and they will be considered if they are good enough.

“We have started intensive training for the past two weeks and I must say that the players have been trying their best to impress the technical crew and give reasons why they should be taking. We have not concluded on the number of players we are going to take from the feeder team. I want them to show me what they can do first.”
