Son is expected to be announced as a new LAFC player at a news conference on Wednesday. LAFC will reportedly splash out around $26 million (£19.5m) to land Son, beating the previous MLS transfer record paid by Atalanta for Emmanuel Latte Lath. Son will also link up with a familiar face at LAFC as he will join former Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris at the club.

LAFC forward David Martinez has been quick to welcome Son to the club. He told reporter Rodrigo A. Serrano: “It is amazing because we know he’s a legend. For me it’s a dream. Being so young, it makes me happy that I get to share a locker room with him. I’m going to learn the most I can. Most of all, happy he’s here with us.”
