'An absolute howler!' - Tottenham fans rage at club partnership with Netflix hit series Squid Game ahead of protests against chairman Daniel Levy

Tottenham formally announced a partnership with Netflix where the club will support the launch of the second season of their hit series Squid Game. To mark the start of the series on December 26, Spurs have agreed to conduct several activities involving the fans during their Premier League fixture against Liverpool this Sunday.

The commercial deal with the US-based streaming platform has left the fans fuming due to the club's supposed focus on off-field interests, and supporters - of both Tottenham and their rivals - saw the irony.

An X user named @ClearlakeWon wrote: "Tottenham owners will really do everything and anything except be a serious club."

@ChelseaVWR_ said: "This is like the equivalent of Spurs in a competition for a trophy. Just waiting to be eliminated."

Expressing anger, a Spurs fan named @MaverickSpur wrote: "I feel for you Social Media Manager I really do !! A post promoting a TV show where the participants have to be involved in games desperately hoping for a bit of success at the end but most of them die before they get there, sound familiar?"

Spurs supporters are planning to organise a peaceful protest rally against club chairman Levy this Sunday ahead of the Liverpool clash as they are are unhappy with the way the club is being run by the British businessman. The Lilywhites have got off to a poor start in the 2024-25 campaign as they find themselves 10th in the standings with 23 points from 16 Premier League outings. Head coach Ange Postecoglou has largely retained the support of fans, with their frustrations being aimed at the board instead.

Before facing the league leaders on Sunday, Postecoglou's men will take the field this Thursday against Manchester United in a Carabao Cup quarter-final clash at home.
