Another signing for Inter Miami? River Plate boss reacts to interest in midfielder from Lionel Messi's side

While informal discussions have taken place between Miami and River regarding Palavecino, the club has not yet submitted a formal offer for the 27-year-old midfielder. Despite Palavecino's $20 million (£15.78m) release clause at River, Argentine media outletOlé suggested that the Buenos Aires club is open to selling him for approximately $3.5 million (£2.76m) – the sum they paid to Deportivo Cali in 2021 to secure his services.

Palavecino, a product of the Platense youth system, has faced challenges securing a spot in the River team under the management of Martín Demichelis. However, the club president, Jorge Brito, insisted that the manager considers the player to be "important" and wants to him to stay.

Speaking to reporters, Brito said: "Martín Demichelis considers Palavecino important. We did not have any formal offer, although we know of Inter Miami’s interest .”

Inter Miami, led by head coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, are actively seeking midfield reinforcements. The club had a bid rejected for Boca Juniors' Cristian Medina, and hence have turned their attention to Palavecino.

Miami have already secured striker Luis Suárez and midfielder Julian Gressel through free transfers. Additionally, defenders Tyler Hall and Israel Boatwright have been signed from the reserve squad ahead of the regular MLS season which is et to kick-off in February.
