Bryan Mbeumo chooses Manchester United! Brentford star tells Bees and Spurs that he plans to join Ruben Amorim's side this summer after £60m bid

After months of speculation, David Ornstein reports for The Atheltic that the Cameroonian forward has selected Manchester United as his next club. While it had been suggested a fee of £65m had been agreed by the two clubs, Ornstein believes an official agreement has yet to be reached. United had a bid worth up to £62.5m rejected by the Bees. Brentford want to exceed that figure, the fee the Red Devils agreed with Wolves for the services of Matheus Cunha, making the reported £65m fee likely.

It had appeared the 26-year-old may have been heading for North London rather than Manchester, after his ex-manager Thomas Frank was named Spurs manager. Despite the club showing interest, Ornstein reports they deny lodging an official offer.

Were United to complete a deal, it would take their total spend this transfer window to £125m. Considering the perilous statements made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe regarding the club's finances, it's somewhat surprising United are in position to make this move without selling first team players. Antony, Jadon Sancho,Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are all expected to depart before the start of the new season.

The Guardian reports Mbeumo will be earning £150,000-per-week at United as he bids to become a star at Old Trafford.
