VfB Stuttgart have reshaped their attack ahead of a demanding three-front season, completing the signing of Dzenan Pejcinovic from relegated Wolfsburg for €25 million. The 21-year-old becomes the club's second most expensive signing in history, behind only Deniz Undav, and arrives having scored 12 goals across all competitions last season. Stuttgart's sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth confirmed the club wanted to strengthen for the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal, and Pejcinovic chose Stuttgart over interest from Porto and a late approach from RB Leipzig.

The transfer closes a chapter of tension between coach Sebastian Hoeneß and the club's hierarchy. Before the deal was finalised, Hoeneß publicly pressed for reinforcements, warning that time was running short in pre-season and that Stuttgart needed to add quality rather than lose it. That frustration echoed similar friction from the previous summer, when Nick Woltemade's departure left the squad short. The arrival of Pejcinovic appears to have eased those concerns, with Hoeneß now holding three senior strikers in Undav, Ermedin Demirovic and the new signing.

Demirovic himself had been linked with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt, but those reports look wide of the mark. The Bosnian international, contracted until 2028, said he welcomes the competition and wants to score as many goals as possible this season. Hoeneß also pushed back firmly on earlier speculation connecting Demirovic to Fenerbahce, calling some of the reporting irritating. Stuttgart head into the new campaign with genuine attacking depth, and new Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp has reportedly already contacted the club about Pejcinovic as a potential future international.
