In 2016, the Barca youth academy star escorted the Spain legend onto the Camp Nou field as a mascot when Ramos' Real Madrid faced the Catalan giants in El Clasico.

On Friday, seven years after that chance encounter, Yamal was named in the Barcelona starting XI as they welcomed Sevilla to the Estadio Olimpico, with Ramos lining up in the heart of the visitors defence.

At 16-years-old, Yamal has emerged as one of world football's most promising talents. He is the youngest player ever to play for the senior teams of Barcelona and Spain and seems to already have a strong hold on a starting spot at the Catalan giants.

According to reports, he has already signed a new contract that ties him to the Blaugrana until 2026 and will be officially announced on Monday.
