Per the Daily Mail, Madrid have taken note of Wharton's excellent performances for Palace since his return from hernia surgery. The Spanish club's chief scout, Juni Calafat, is said to be a big admirer of the 21-year-old, who is expected to be part of Thomas Tuchel's first England squad.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also said to hold an interest in Wharton, while Manchester City opted against making a move for him in January due to his injury. Palace value him at around £70 million ($88m), and stand to make a huge profit, having signed him for £22m ($28m) from Blackburn Rovers in 2024.
