'Could he be a problem in the dressing room?' - Mathys Tel's off-the-field behaviour questioned as former England star asks why Bayern Munich allowed highly-rated striker to join Tottenham

Tel, who joined the Spurs in the January transfer window on a loan move, with an option to buy, from Bayern Munich, has got off to a flying start in North London. After making his debut in the club's 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup second-leg fixture, he found the back of the net against Aston Villa in a 2-1 defeat in the Fa Cup last weekend.

Despite the Frenchman scoring in just his second appearance for the club, ex-England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson cast doubt on the youngster's behaviour off the pitch as he wondered why Bayern let him leave despite being a promising and talented young forward.

Speaking to Betfred TV, Robinson said: "He’s a quality player. He’s still only 19 years old and if you look at all his attributes, he’s a dribbler that takes players on. If you play under Ange Postecoglou, the wide players are given the freedom to do what they’re best at. Why weren’t Bayern Munich playing him and why have they let him go?

"Is it the things he’s doing off the field? Could he be a problem in the dressing room? We don’t know. Gametime at Bayern Munich isn’t easy because they’re a quality side, but why have they let him go on loan with a permanent option?

He added: "He’s played 60 games for Bayern Munich and scored 12 goals, so he’s had his opportunities in their first team. I think he’s a quality player, but there’s a part of me that questions why they’ve let him go."

Ange Postecoglou's side will be back in action on Sunday as they host Manchester United in a crucial Premier League encounter.
