‘Not happy’ - Kylian Mbappe & Vinicius Junior warning from Real Madrid legend as ‘love’ questions asked of Galacticos at Santiago Bernabeu

Mbappe personally had a memorable debut campaign at Santiago Bernabeu last season as he scored 44 goals in 59 appearances for Real Madrid across all competitions, but the Frenchman failed to win any domestic competitions and the club were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal.

Vinicius Junior had an underwhelming campaign in terms of goals as he managed to net just 22 times in 58 appearances across all competitions. According to Mijatovic, the Selecao star's sudden dip in form may have reduced the affection he used to get from the fans only a few years ago.

Speaking to reporters, the 56-year-old said: "When you have to renew the team and look for the new Modric, Kroos and Casemiro… you can’t remake the team in one summer. The team has to make several important decisions this summer . If Vinicius, Mbappe or Rodrygo are not happy and do not feel the support of the club, they cannot perform. I don’t know if the fans are as in love with Vinicius as they were two or three years ago, or if he has as much respect for them as he did then."

Mijatovic added: "I keep saying it, accumulating great players, with a lot of market value, is always counterproductive. You have an asset that’s worth a lot, but you don’t get the most out of it. As the months go by, the player isn’t happy, and you don’t know if you will be able to sell him the following year."

Xabi Alonso's side will kick off the 2025-26 campaign on August 19 as they take on Osasuna at home.
