Newcastle United are reportedly in talks with Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after missing out on Burnley's James Trafford.

Manchester City have beaten Newcastle United to the signing of goalkeeper James Trafford, with Pep Guardiola’s side reaching an agreement with Burnley. The deal has reportedly been sealed for less than the £40 million ($53.8m) buy-back clause originally set, as City prepare for possible changes in their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

Manchester City have reportedly made formal contact with Burnley to discuss the potential return of their former academy graduate James Trafford. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, currently at Turf Moor, is the subject of renewed interest from his boyhood club just two years after being sold.

Newcastle United’s summer transfer window has hit a significant snag after three transfer bids, amounting to a combined £120 million ($165m), were rejected. The Magpies, eager to bolster their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League, had targeted Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Joao Pedro, and Burnley’s James Trafford. However, none of their initial offers have succeeded.
