Klopp hints at late Liverpool movement before deadline day

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that there could be late movement at Liverpool before the summer deadline passes.

The Reds have already enjoyed a busy window bringing in Fabinho, Alisson and Xherdan Shaqiri, while Naby Keita has completed his move from RB Leipzig.

Big money has been spent improving last season’s Champions League finalists, with it hoped that a Premier League title challenge can be pieced together in 2018-19.

Reinforcements have, however, pushed a number of those already at Anfield down the pecking order, leading to reports of possible exits over the coming days.

Klopp admitted to reporters after a 5-0 friendly victory over Napoli that sales may be sanctioned prior to the window closing on Thursday, saying: “We will see what happens.

“If any player from my team is available, then in every other situation in my life as a manager I would have bought all of them, to be honest. They are all fantastic boys, they are able to play fantastic football.

“In this moment, the squad would be too big, that's true. But it's not that that means for us that we give them for free or something like that, Liverpool is strong enough to keep all these players and then we deal with that.

“We are not there to make other teams stronger, that's not our job.”

Klopp also refused to rule out more additions being made to his ranks, with the German preparing for a busy shift on deadline day.

He said: “I can't kill your D-Day! People sit the whole day in front of the TV, seeing who buys and sells who. I won't watch it because I'll be working.”

Regardless of whether further fresh faces arrive, Klopp believes that he is already working with his strongest squad since taking the Liverpool reins back in October 2015.

He added: “Hopefully, but we will know that after the season because how strong the squad is, the season will show and not the transfers or whatever, or the price you paid, or the money value of the squad.

“It’s only about the football and that’s what we have to do. We have to show day in and day out in the next few weeks and you will always have difficult situations.”

Liverpool will open their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham on August 12.
