X-rated team talks! How Phil Parkinson is a bad influence on Ryan Reynolds as Wrexham star lifts the lid on dressing room visits from Hollywood co-owner
Wrexham’s players were treated to words of inspiration from Reynolds prior to kick-off, with Ollie Rathbone revealing that the air turned blue. He has told the Men In Blazers podcast: "It is something you don’t think you’ll get used to, but you do eventually - just because of the way he is, he’s so personable and relatable and takes loads of time to get to know all the players. You do genuinely feel like you know him.
"Before the game, he just got the lads in the changing room, got us in a huddle with some inspirational words that I won’t repeat.”
Rathbone went on to say of Reynolds and McElhenney being prepared to air promotion dreams in public, with those inside the Wrexham camp doing their best to play down expectations until ultimate targets are hit: "I don’t think it affects our mindset. I think everyone is aware of it. But when you are in the Wrexham bubble, you become very used to that type of stuff. You just kind of brush it off and get down to business."
