Wrexham star Ollie Palmer hits back at familiar criticism but admits team must 'get better' to secure promotion for Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney

The Red Dragons have grown accustomed to blowing opponents away in any given surroundings, with 111 points accrued when landing the National League title in 2023. More of the same was expected in League Two, and Phil Parkinson’s side are among the fourth-tier frontrunners.

Palmer is, however, looking to pick fault in a familiar argument, with the experienced frontman saying of Wrexham’s supposed travel sickness ahead of a visit to Grimsby on Saturday: “I don't think our away form is as bad as people make out. If you are going to refer to yourselves as one of the top teams in the league, obviously we want it to be right up there but we are probably about seventh or eighth in the form table - it is not horrendous. We know we have got to better that if we want to get to where we want to get to. We have got fantastic home form but you can't have everything; it was great to get three points against Morecambe.”

Wrexham prevailed 3-1 at Morecambe in their last away game, but have since dropped five points at home to Harrogate and Tranmere. Only goal difference is keeping them in the automatic promotion places, with more drama being provided for the documentary series pieced together by Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
