Mullin missed the start of the 2023-24 campaign through injury – having suffered a punctured lung in a pre-season clash with Manchester United – but did not take long to find his scoring boots and finished with 24 goals to his name, including hat-tricks against Morecambe and Accrington.

    WHAT MULLIN SAID

He told Sky Sports of helping the Red Dragons to promotion in successive seasons: “Back-to-back wasn’t mentioned until it was achieved. We never get ahead of ourselves, that is one thing about this group – anything can go on around us, anything can happen, but we will always remain humble and know that hard work is what is going to get us to the next level.”

  • ELLIOT LEE EARNS HIS FLOWERS

Lee was another integral part of Phil Parkinson’s squad, as he chipped in with 16 goals and pulled ball-playing strings in Wrexham’s engine room, deservedly earning his spot in the League Two XI. He is joined in midfield for the League Two PFA Team of the Year by Mansfield’s Davis Keillor-Dunn and Notts County star Daniel Crowley.

    DID YOU KNOW?

County also have a striker in the team, with Macauley Langstaff winning the Golden Boot with 28 goals his name. He told the Football League’s official website of those exploits - having since secured a transfer to Championship side Millwall: “To have finished my first season in the EFL as League Two's top scorer is a really proud achievement. A lot of people told me that the gap between the National League and League Two wasn't that big but I disagree - I think it's a noticeably higher standard, so to have outscored everyone else in the division is brilliant.”

  • WHO ELSE MADE THE TEAM?

Jodi Jones, is the third Magpies representative in the fourth-tier selection. Title winners Stockport also boast a trio of picks, with goalkeeper Ben Hinchcliffe getting the nod alongside defensive colleagues Fraser Horsfall and Ibou Touray. Experienced Mansfield defender Aden Flint completes the XI.
