Revealed: Why Mason Greenwood will return to Man Utd & when a decision on Getafe loanee's future will be made amid Barcelona & Atletico Madrid transfer talk
Greenwood was considered to have no future in Manchester when bidding farewell to United, with his last appearance for the Premier League heavyweights coming shortly before his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.

Those charges were dropped in February 2023, freeing Greenwood to resume his professional career, but there has been no way back for him at United. According to Fabrizo Romano, no decision on the winger’s long-term future will be made until the Red Devils have a new sporting director in place.

Romano has told GIVEMESPORT, with Jadon Sancho also set to return to England from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund: “At the end of the season, they will have Sancho and Greenwood returning. With those players, Man Utd and INEOS want a new sporting director to make a decision and be responsible for what they decide to do with these two players. So, it's early, and I think for Greenwood, nothing will be decided now or in February or March. I think it’s something that they will probably discuss in May or June.”
