The 24-year-old forward is back in his homeland after representing the Selecao at this summer’s Copa America in the United States. An untimely suspension prevented him from making the desired impact there, with a shock penalty shootout defeat to Uruguay being suffered at the quarter-final stage.

Vinicius did, however, enjoy a productive 2023-24 campaign at club level – helping Real to La Liga and Champions League titles. He registered 24 goals across all competitions – a personal best return – and is considered to be in contention for a prestigious Golden Ball.

For now, the fleet-footed winger is looking to relax in South America. He was, however, left on his backside after being upstaged by a student during a guest appearance at a futsal contest. Vinicius was able to see the funny side of getting the same treatment that he usually hands out to opposition defences.

Real are readying themselves for a pre-season tour of the United States that will include friendly clashes with AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea. They will return to Europe ahead of the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, with new ‘Galactico’ Kylian Mbappe poised to make his Blancos debut in that fixture.
