    The Canadian defence thought that it had dealt with the threat posed by Shaw as the 19-year-old San Diego Wave forward sought to make the breakthrough on home soil at Snapdragon Stadium. Torrential rain had, however, left the field almost unplayable and a backpass went dramatically wrong.
