The Ecuadorian battled his way through the heat in Paris to emerge triumphant, with his body being put on the line. Ronaldo-esque training allowed the South American to be in peak physical condition when it matters most.

He crumpled to his knees after finishing in first place, as emotion spilled out of his body at the end of an energy-sapping race, but he still had enough in the tank to deliver Ronaldo’s famous goal celebration routine.

Pintado is far from being the first to emulate Ronaldo when hitting a sporting ‘goal’ outside of football circles. The Portuguese has seen his celebration take on a life of its own, with stars from NFL to rugby via tennis and cricket using him as a source of inspiration.

Ronaldo will be hoping to break into that routine himself in the not too distant future – having gone goalless through Euro 2024. At 39 years of age, the evergreen frontman will be back for more with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in 2024-25.
