Thiago played his part in that, with the youngster filling the same No.10 shirt that his famous father wears for Inter Miami’s senior team and the Argentina national side. He did that jersey justice when drilling in a well-struck strike from distance.

Thiago Messi has already won trophies with Inter Miami’s youth team and is treading his own path towards the professional ranks – although there is a long way to go before he can be considered ready to follow in the most illustrious of footsteps.

Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi was not in attendance, as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury picked up in the 2024 Copa America final. He is expected to make his long-awaited return to action in an MLS clash with the Philadelphia Union on September 14.
