VIDEO: Lionel Messi bodyguard ‘turned on the jets’ to tackle pitch invader during Inter Miami win in front of record-breaking MLS crowd in Kansas

The Argentine superstar was once again the star attraction as a record-breaking MLS crowd of 72,000 packed into Arrowhead Stadium – with Super Bowl-winning Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany among those in attendance.

Messi scored one and made another as Inter Miami ran out 3-2 winners on the day, with Luis Suarez netting the decisive goal 19 minutes from time. The game was, however, broken up on a few occasions by excited fans making their way onto the field.

On one such occasion, Messi’s bodyguard – Yassine Cheuko, who previously worked with him at Paris Saint-Germain – raced across the pitch to get to the selfie-hunting supporter before match security could join him.

Another supporter was tackled to the ground by stewards, while Messi put his arm around a young fan that made the most of an opportunity to get close to his idol. At a recent game between Inter Miami and the Colorado Rapids, a pitch invader videoed herself running up to Messi before Cheuko once again made his way onto the scene.
