Starting in Milan, it was a mixed day for two Americans, as it was for the Rossoneri in general. Christian Pulisic started as a No. 10 but, along with the rest of the Milan attack, was generally wasteful. He was taken out with his side down 2-0, replaced by USMNT teammate Yunus Musah.
Good thing, too, as Musah assisted Noah Okafor's equalizing goal in the 95th minute as Milan stole a 2-2 draw to open the season.
In England, Josh Sargent made his mark in Norwich's 2-2 draw with Blackburn. Gabriel Slonina did, too, by making six saves in Barnsley's 2-1 win over Lincoln City. Matt Turner, though, had no such luck as he was left out of Nottingham Forest's matchday squad altogether in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
Folarin Balogun did get minutes in France, but didn't do much in Monaco's narrow 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne. Gio Reyna, on the other hand, got zero minutes again as the midfielder's future remains up in the air - he failed to make an appearance in Borussia Dortmund's 4-1 DFB-Pokal win over Phonix Lubeck.
