  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The right-back limped off in Liverpool's Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek and Reds manager Slot has now said he will not be available for Sunday's clash against Newcastle United in the cup final. However, the Dutchman believes the 26-year-old has not played his last game for the club, with the defender out of contract this summer.

    WHAT ARNE SLOT SAID

He told reporters on Friday: “Trent is indeed not available. He will not be there at the final. But he’s still to be assessed for how long it’s going to take. We do expect him back before the end of the season.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Alexander-Arnold has been a key player for Liverpool for more than five years now but there is a growing possibility he may leave his boyhood club for good. Real Madrid have been linked with the Englishman and if he does depart, he will want to go out on a high with a Premier League title and a Carabao Cup win - even if he doesn't play in the latter.
