Back in September 2024, the first instalment of a contest that has become known as the ‘Hollywood Derby’ took place at St Andrew’s. Seven-time Super Bowl winner Brady, who is an investor at Birmingham, had the last laugh that day as the Blues secured a 3-1 win.

    THE GOSSIP

Manchester United and England legend Beckham was by Brady’s side, with Reynolds’ fellow co-chairman Rob McElhenney representing Wrexham. A potentially star-studded return date will take place at SToK Racecourse on Thursday.

  • WHAT RYAN REYNOLDS SAID

Quizzed by the Men In Blazers podcast on whether he indulged in any playful banter with Brady before and during the “high-cheekbone Clasico”, Reynolds said: “There is some of that. I wasn’t able to be at the Birmingham match, but he was sitting with Beckham and I was sh*t-texting both of them – mostly failing bone structure, age-related material, not my finest moment. I hate that they are both kind people in real life. There is definitely a lot of anticipation. Would I love to beat Tom Brady at sports? Yes. The answer is an emphatic yes. Would Rob? Maybe more. The bone structure classic coming up, it’s going to be a big one. I don’t know if I’ll be there, but it’s definitely on the cards.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Asked who he would like to bring along to rival Beckham, with it suggested that ‘Roast Battle’ icon Glaser – who savaged Brady during a Netflix special – would be a good choice: “I don’t know John McEnroe but I want to see if he’ll come because having a real black belt sh*t talker would be nice. Nikki Glaser, amazing idea. Tom’s worst nightmare! Or I’ll wear my Nikki Glaser outfit, I have a whole thing I do.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Wrexham head into their latest meeting with Birmingham sat third in the League One table, three points adrift of the automatic promotion spots and five behind the table-topping Blues, who also boast two games in hand.
