Sven-Goran Eriksson sees Liverpool dream come true! Reds confirm ex-England boss will fill Jurgen Klopp’s seat in Anfield dugout for Legends game with Ajax

The 75-year-old Swede has revealed that he may have less than 12 months to live following a terminal cancer diagnosis. He has worked with many top talents during an illustrious career in domestic and international coaching, but admits that his biggest regret is never getting an opportunity to work at Anfield.

Liverpool have now announced that Eriksson will be filling Jurgen Klopp’s seat in the dugout - alongside club legends Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge – for an annual LFC Foundation charity match on March 23. Dutch giants Ajax will be the visitors to Merseyside for that fixture.

Premier League giants Liverpool have stated that: “The first squad players have already been announced and include Istanbul hero goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek and fellow shot-stopper Sander Westerveld. Defenders Martin Skrtel, Fabio Auerlio and Gregory Vignal are also confirmed and Djibril Cisse will be among the attacking options, alongside former Reds and Ajax forward Ryan Babel, who will feature for both sides in the game. All connected with the club and LFC Foundation look forward to warmly welcoming LFC fan Sven and his family to Anfield – and seeing him in the dugout on the day - for a fantastic fundraising occasion.”

Tickets for the Legends charity match are priced at £28 for adults, £8 for juniors and £18 for over 65s. One hundred per cent of the proceeds raised will support the work of the LFC Foundation and its charity partners. Eriksson will form part of the show, with an emotional return to management being made.
