New signing Cherki is already doing everything to endear himself to the Manchester City faithful ahead of his debut for his new club. The Frenchman recently stated that he is desperately awaiting an opportunity to "kill" arch-rivals Manchester United, while preparing for the Club World Cup in the United States.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Cherki had an outstanding season at Lyon, scoring 12 goals and registering 20 assists in 44 games. Les Gones had a good run in the Europa League, where the 21-year-old truly shone. However, Lyon's journey in the competition ended in a gut-wrenching extra time defeat to United in the quarter-finals in April. After the first leg in France ended in a 2-2 stalemate, with Cherki boldly stating that their opponents were "afraid of us", the Red Devils staged a historic comeback in the extra time of the second leg at the Theatre of Dreams, winning 5-4 on the night and 7-6 on aggregate. Following the end of the season, Cherki was snapped up by United's cross-city rivals, where he's now desperate to meet Ruben Amorim's side again to avenge the Europa League loss.
WHAT CHERKI SAID
Following a training session with his new team-mates in the USA, Cherki said: "I didn’t like it when Manchester United won the game against Lyon because I am a Lyonnais. Now I am waiting for the game (to) kill them. I just (wanted) to go to Manchester City."
