Not all about spending! Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney face a different kind of transfer problem as Championship interest is shown in Wrexham star

Hollywood co-owners have grown accustomed to seeing hurdles placed in their path when it comes to recruitment. They have been happy to fund several forays into a congested market that often sees asking prices inflated.

The presence of Reynolds and McElhenney can see selling clubs raise the stakes when Wrexham enter discussions. The Red Dragons are, however, fully aware that transfer business is not all about buying – with admiring glances from afar also needing to be fended off.

According to The Telegraph, the Red Dragons may soon find themselves fielding player requests from the second tier. It is claimed that wing-back Ryan Barnett, who has been in impressive form when posting a number of assists this season, is catching the eye of Stoke and Preston.

Barnett has helped Wrexham to back-to-back promotions, having joined them from Solihull Moors in February 2023, and is said to have seen his contract in North Wales extended. He may be happy to shun interest from the likes of Stoke and Preston as Phil Parkinson is looking to guide the Red Dragons towards the Championship – as they currently sit second in the League One table.
