Do Rob McElhenney & Ryan Reynolds have ‘Plan B’? USMNT legend asks familiar question of record-breaking Wrexham as Hollywood superstars oversee remarkable rise

The Hollywood co-owners at SToK Racecourse have overseen a meteoric rise from the Red Dragons. Records have been broken when capturing the National League title, bouncing straight through League Two and securing automatic promotion out of League One.

Wrexham are the first side to take three successive steps up the EFL ladder, with plans for life in the Championship now being drawn up. More money is set to be invested while aiming for the ultimate Premier League end goal, while pre-season plans will take the Welsh outfit a long way from home.

The last two summers have been spent in North America, allowing former Premier League star Kasey Keller to quiz McElhenney on a remarkable project. The USMNT legend finds himself asking familiar questions in 2025.

Keller has told ESPN FC: “I’ve covered Wrexham a couple of summers in a row now, with their pre-season stuff for ESPN. I’ve spoken to McElhenney twice, and I said: ‘What’s Plan B because we haven’t had to see it yet?'

“The next summer, we laughed because I had to ask him exactly the same question because Plan A keeps working! And if I do talk to him again this next summer, I have to ask him the exact same question: ‘What’s Plan B?’ – because Plan A has just continued to work and three consecutive promotions is tremendous.”

Wrexham will need several plans when joining the second tier of English football, as that division is notoriously competitive. They have, however, already shown - through the club’s documentary series - that anything is possible when you dare to dream big.
