THE BIGGER PICTURE
According to ESPN, on the back of a 3-1 home defeat to Brighton, Amorim was ready to walk away and had to be “talked out of the idea by associates”. There has been little improvement since then, with a record of 13 defeats in 25 Premier League games leaving United’s head coach “really embarrassed”.
After mulling over his options in the new year, Amorim “had to be reassured by senior figures at the club, including CEO Omar Berrada, that he would be backed to turn the team's fortunes around”. United’s board remain convinced that they have the right man for the job.
