Revealed: The astronomical price Arsenal need to pay to sign Amadou Onana from Everton this January transfer window

With the January recruitment market open for business in 2024, the Gunners are said to be looking for more steel in their engine room. They splashed out £105 million ($133m) on Declan Rice in the summer of 2023, but feel that further reinforcements are required in the middle of the park.

According to TEAMtalk, that search has led the north London outfit in the direction of Belgium international Onana. He has previously been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, with the 22-year-old having proven himself in the Premier League across 18 months at Goodison Park.

Everton splashed out £33m ($42m) on Onana when snapping him up from Lille in 2022, and have seen his stock soar since then. With that in mind, it is claimed that his asking price has risen above the £70m ($89m) mark and could come in as high as £90m ($114m).

Everton are reluctant sellers, particularly in the middle of a season that has them battling to beat the drop, but Arsenal may test the water in the coming weeks as Mikel Arteta seeks to add greater depth to his title-chasing ranks at Emirates Stadium.
